Engineers please explain physics of this. I don't understand why it listed, unless it was particularly loaded to the left side.

If you're going to overload a boat, you'd better make sure everything is perfectly centered. Otherwise you end up with this, or worse, those occasional news stories about an overloaded ferry capsizing. Better yet, don't overload it.
If you've ever gotten into or out of a canoe, you know how even being slightly off center can dramatically impact stability. A fat guy in a canoe can tip it over just by stepping very slightly to one side.

That's true. I guess I hadn't considered the physics at a bigger level, since on such a large barge a person standing on one side or the other would not induce it to tip.
